Abstract

INTRODUCTION AND OBJECTIVES: THE MAIN FACTORS INCREASING PREVALENCE OF RESISTANT BACTERIA IN HOSPITALS ARE CHANGES IN THE GENETIC STRUCTURE OF MICROBIAL DUE TO CHANGES IN CHARACTERISTICS OF HOSPITAL POPULATIONS AND IN PROCEDURES AND INSTRUMENTS USED IN PATIENT CARE. ONE OF THESE BACTERIA IS METHICILLIN-RESISTANT STAPHYLOCOCCUS AUREUS (MRSA) WHICH IS TODAY ONE OF THE MAJOR CHALLENGES OF MEDICINE IN THE HOSPITAL SECTION. PURPOSE OF THIS STUDY WAS TO INVESTIGATE THE SPREAD OF MRSA STRAINS IN DIFFERENT PARTS OF THE HOSPITAL.RESULTS: BORG AND COLLEAGUES STUDY DEMONSTRATED THAT IN THE GENERAL WARDS OF HOSPITAL, MRSA IS MORE COMMON STRAINS.
