Abstract

 TUBERCULOSIS IS CAUSED BY MYCOBACTERIUM TUBERCULOSIS (M.TB) AS WELL AS NON-TUBERCULAR MYCOBACTERIUM (NTM).THUS IT IS IMPORTANT TO DIFFERENTIATE INFECTIONS DUE TO (M.TB) AND (NTM) AT THE EARLY STAGE OF THE DISEASE DIFFERENTIATION OF M.TB FROM NTM CAN BE DONE BY COLONY MORPHOLOGY, SMEAR MICROSCOPY, BIOCHEMICAL REACTIONS. THE OBJECTIVE OF THE PRESENT STUDY WAS TO DIFFERENTIATE THE M.TB FROM NTM ISOLATED FROM DIFFERENT CLINICAL SAMPLS BY AN INHOUSE MULTIPLEX PCR ASSAY.ACCURACY AND EFFICIENCY OF THE RESULTS WERE THEN COMPARED TO CONVENTIONAL BIOCHEMICAL TESTS. MATERIALS AND METHODS THIS STUDY, IS A COMPARATIVE STUDY ON 100 CLINICAL SPECIMENS THAT WERE POSITIVE FOR ACID FAST BACILLUS, THE PATIENT WERE SELECT FROM THE REFERENCE LABORATORY, SHIRASE UNIVERSITY OF MEDICAL SCIENCE. THE MULTIPLEX PCR USING PRIMERS PAIRS AMPLIFYING GENE RPOB REGIN OF BOTH M.TB AND NTM.
