Abstract

 INTRODUCTION: ONE OF THE MOST CONCERNING GOALS IN TISSUE ENGINEERING IS TO ACHIEVE AN APPROPRIATE AND PARTICULAR ENVIRONMENT FOR DIFFERENTIATION OF STEM CELLS INTO DIFFERENT CELL TYPES. TO ATTAIN THIS OBJECT, AND REACHING A TISSUE WITH MAXIMUM LEVELS OF FUNCTIONAL EFFICIENCY WE SHOULD MIMIC THE ENVIRONMENT OF THE TARGET TISSUE IN VITRO. CULTURING CELLS ON NANO-SCALED SCAFFOLDS AND SUPPLEMENTING THE MEDIA WITH GROWTH FACTORS ARE ATTEMPTS TO REACH A SUITABLE SITUATION. EXCITABLE CELLS E.G. CARDIOVASCULAR AND NEURAL CELLS, ARE CAPABLE OF GENERATING ACTION POTENTIAL IN RESPONSE TO ELECTRICAL STIMULATIONS AND THEY CAN TRANSMIT AN IMPULSE THROUGH THEIR MEMBRANE. THEREFORE IT CAN BE ASSUMED THAT APPLYING THIS STIMULATIONS CAN BE BENEFICIAL IN MORE EFFECTIVE DIFFERENTIATION INTO THESE CELL TYPES IN VITRO...
