Abstract

 INTRODUCTION: THE VASODILATION OF ANG1-7 ACTS VIA MAS RECEPTOR (MASR) AND IT IS REPORTED TO BE GENDER RELATED. THE CROSSTALK BETWEEN MASR AND ANGIOTENSIN (ANG) II TYPES 1 AND 2 RECEPTORS (AT1R AND AT2R) MAY CHANGE SOME ACTIONS OF THE ANG1-7 IN RENAL CIRCULATION. WE DESCRIBED RENAL HEMODYNAMIC RESPONSE TO ANGIOTENSIN (1-7) IN MALE AND FEMALE RATS WHEN AT1R AND AT2R WERE BLOCKED.METHODS: IN ANAESTHETIZED MALE AND FEMALE WISTAR RATS, AT1R AND AT2R WERE BLOCKED VIA LOSARTAN AND PD123319 RESPECTIVELY AND THEN EFFECTS OF SALINE (VEHICLE) AND MASR BLOCKADE (A779) WERE TESTED IN PRESENCE OF ANG1-7 ON MEAN ARTERIAL PRESSURE (MAP), RENAL PERFUSION PRESSURE (RPP),RENAL BLOOD FLOW (RBF), AND RENAL VASCULAR RESISTANCE (RVR).RESULTS: WHEN AT1R, AT2R AND MASR WERE BLOCKED, ANGIOTENSIN1-7 DECREASED RVR (P=0.04) AND INCREASED RBF (P=0.05) SIGNIFICANTLY IN MALE RATS, AND SUCH OBSERVATION WAS NOT SEEN IN FEMALE RATS.CONCLUSION: WHEN AT1R, AT2R AND MASR WERE BLOCKED, THE EFFECTS OF ANGIOTENSIN1-7 ON RENAL HEMODYNAMIC APPEARS TO BE SEXUALLY DIMORPHISM; HOWEVER IT SEEMS THAT CO-BLOCKADE OF ALL AT1R, AT2R AND MASR POTENTIALLY ALTER RVR AND RBF IN MALE RATS. THESE FINDINGS SUPPORT A CROSSTALK BETWEEN MASR AND ANG II RECEPTORS IN RENAL CIRCULATION. ANGIOTENSIN1-7 MAY ACT OF OTHER WAYS AS PRODUCTION NO AND OTHER PRODUCT, OR POTENTIATION OF ENDOGENOUS BRADYKININ IN THE VASCULATURE BED.
