Abstract

 INTRODUCTION: POLYMERS ARE VERY USEFUL IN HUMAN LIFE AND WERE USED AS A PART OF BUILDINGS, PACKAGING MATERIALS AND COATINGS, TRANSPARENT AND OPTICAL MATERIALS, AND OTHER APPLICATIONS. BUT IN SOME CASES SUCH AS HIGH TEMPERATURE, POLYMER PROPERTIES ARE NOT SUFFICIENT TO EMPLOY. IT SEEMS THAT ADDITION OF A QUANTITY OF OTHER MATERIAL MAY MODIFY THE PROPERTIES OF POLYMERS. IN SPECIAL CASE ADDING THE CLAY NANOMINERALS (BENTONITE, HECTORITE, ETC.) TO POLYMER IMPROVE PROCESSABILITY AND FINAL PRODUCT PROPERTIES LIKE TENSILE STRENGTH [2], HEAT DISTORTION TEMPERATURES [3], THERMAL AND ELECTRICAL CONDUCTIVITIES [4], FIRE RETARDANCY [5] AND ENHANCED GAS BARRIER PROPERTIES [6]. THE SOLUBILITY OF CLAYS ON POLYMERS IS NOT AS HIGH AS THE CLAY CAN DISPERSE COMPLETELY IN POLYMER MATRIX SO THE DESIRABLE PROPERTIES ARE NOT OBTAINED.
