STUDY OF MORPHOLOGY AND SURFACE CHANGES OF NICKEL ALLOYS IN EFFECT OF COKE FORMATION IN THE PROCESS OF THERMAL CRACKING OF NAPHTHA

Abstract

 THERMAL CRACKING OF HYDROCARBONS IS ONE OF THE MOST IMPORTANT INDUSTRIAL PROCESSES WHICH RESULTS ARE OLEFIN PRODUCTS INCLUDING ETHYLENE AND PROPYLENE AS DESIRABLE PRODUCTS. THE UNDESIRABLE PROCESS IS COKE FORMATION WHICH CAUSES SEVERAL PROBLEMS IN THERMAL CRACKING REACTORS SUCH AS: HEAT TRANSFER REDUCTION, INCREASE THE PRESSURE DROP IN THE REACTOR, FUEL CONSUMPTION INCREASE, SHORTENING THE LIFE OF THE REACTOR AND SO ON. IN THIS PAPER THE SURFACE OF THE REACTOR WALL CONSTITUENT METALS STUDIED WITH EDAX ANALYSIS AND KINDS OF CHANGES IN THE COMPOSITION OF THE WALL COMPONENTS IN THE PRESENCE OF FLEAS WAS INVESTIGATED. SO THE SEM ANALYSIS, MORPHOLOGY OF VARIOUS TYPES OF COKE FORMED ON THE SURFACE OF METAL CONSTITUENT OF REACTORS WALL WERE STUDIED AND EFFECT OF FEED, TYPE OF PREVENTATIVE AND SO ON FOR REDUCING THE FORMATION OF COKE FORMED ON THE SURFACE OF THE REACTOR SURFACE AREA AND THUS STAY HEALTHY AND INCREASED LONGEVITY IS INVESTIGATED. IN THIS PAPER, WE USED THE LIGHT AND HEAVY NAPHTHA AS THE FEED INLET OF THE REACTOR AND NORMAL HEPTANE (SIMILAR PETROLEUM NAPHTHA CUT AS AN INDICATOR OF FOOD WITHOUT SULFUR) AND HP MOD, SS316, SS304, HP MIC ALLOYS.
