Abstract

 INTRODUCTION: SINGLE-WALLED CARBON NANOTUBES (SWCNTS) AND MULTI-WALLED CARBON NANOTUBES (MWCNTS), EVER SINCE THEIR DISCOVERY, HAVE ATTRACTED EXTENSIVE ATTENTION DUE TO THEIR UNIQUE PHYSICOCHEMICAL AND ELECTRICAL PROPERTIES [1]. SWCNTS AND MWCNTS, WHICH ARE CONSIDERED TO BE EXTREMELY SUPERIOR ADSORBENTS DUE TO THEIR HIGH SPECIFIC SURFACE AREA AND LARGE MICROPORE VOLUME, HAVE BEEN UTILIZED FOR THE SORPTION OF A NUMBER OF DIFFERENT ORGANIC COMPOUNDS AND INORGANIC IONS [2]. IN THE CURRENT STUDY, 2, 2′-DIAMINODIETHYLAMINE- GRAFTED ONTO MWCNT WAS CHOSEN AS SORBENT WHICH SHOWED MUCH HIGHER ADSORPTION PERCENTAGE FOR NICKEL IONS THAN GENERAL SORBENTS, AND THE ADSORPTION KINETICS AND ISOTHERMS OF NICKEL IONS ONTO THIS SORBENT WERE SYSTEMATICALLY STUDIED.
