Abstract

 INTRODUCTION: AMONG THE ORGANIC CONDUCTING FUNCTIONAL MATERIALS, POLYANILINE (PANI) HAS BEEN EXTENSIVELY STUDIED AS ELECTRODE MATERIAL [1-2] POLYANILINE HAS HIGH CONDUCTIVITY, GOOD REDOX REVERSIBILITY, AND STABILITY IN AQUEOUS SOLUTION AND AIR. HOWEVER, THE CONDUCTIVITY AND THE ELECTROCHEMICAL ACTIVITY OF POLYANILINE ARE STRONGLY AFFECTED BY THE PH VALUE. POLYANILINE HAS ONLY LOW CONDUCTIVITY AT PH> 4 [3]. COPOLYMERIZATION OF ANILINE WITH ITS DERIVATIVES, IS CONSIDERED AN ALTERNATIVE APPROACH TO THE POLYMERIZATION OF SUBSTITUTED ANILINES AND POST TREATMENT FOR MAKING MODIFIED POLYANILINE WITH IMPROVED AND OPTIMIZED PROPERTIES.
