Abstract

 THE MAIN OBJECT OF THIS STUDY IS INVESTIGATION OF DAIRY WASTEWATER TREATMENT AND SPONTANEOUS POWER GENERATION IN CONTINUOUS FLOW MODE. AN ANNULAR SINGLE CHAMBER MICROBIAL FUEL CELL (ASCMFC) WAS FABRICATED FOR THIS OBJECTIVE. IN ORDER TO CONSIDER POSSIBILITY OF LARGE-SCALED ACCOMPLISHMENT OF THIS STRUCTURE, CONTINUOUS FLOW WAS EXAMINED. THE INOCULATION WAS DONE IN CONTINOUS FLOW MODE TO FORM SUFFICIENT ADHESIVE LAYER OF MICROORGANISM ON ANODE AS BIOFILM. THE OPEN CIRCUIT VOLTAGE AT STEADY-STATE CONDITION WAS 700 MV AND IT REMAINED CONSTANT THROUGHOUT INOCULATION PROCESS. ALONG WITH GOOD SUBSTRATE DEGRADATION (COD REMOVAL, 86.8%), CONTINUOUS ASCMFC ALSO DOCUMENTED GOOD REMOVAL OF TURBIDITY (90%).
