Abstract

 IN THIS PAPER, THE ELIMINATION OF N-BUTANOL FROM WASTE AIR WAS STUDIED IN A COMPOST BIOFILTER AT TEMPERATURE RANGE OF 35-45OC UNDER TRANSIENT-STATE. THE SYSTEM WAS OPERATED 8H A DAY ON THE INLET CONCENTRATION OF 2.6 GM-3 AND EMPTY BED RESIDENCE TIME OF 1 MIN FOR 4 DAYS AT EVERY OPERATING TEMPERATURES. THEREAFTER, THE EXPERIMENT WAS PERFORMED IN DAY 4. MAXIMUM REMOVAL EFFICIENCY (RE) WAS OBSERVED AT 40OC ABOUT 88%. THE INFLUENCE OF TEMPERATURE ON TIME NEEDED FOR BIOFILTER STABILITY DURING TRANSIENT-STATE LOADING AND EQUATION OF BIODEGRADATION WERE INVESTIGATED.
