Abstract

 IN THIS RESEARCH WORK, ETHYLENE POLYMERIZATION CARRY OUT USING 1, 4-BIS (2, 6-DIISOPROPYLPHENYL)-ACENAPHTHENEDIIMINEDIBOROMONICKEL (II) (1) COMPLEX ACTIVATED WITH ETHYLALUMINIUM SESQUICHLORIDE (EASC). THE EFFECT OF FACTORS (TEMPERATURE, ETHYLENE PRESSURE AND COCATALYST TO CATALYST MOLAR RATIO (CC)) ON THE POLYMERIZATION PROCESS HAS BEEN INVESTIGATED USING REGRESSION MODELS OF RESPONSES (CATALYST ACTIVITY, CRYSTALLINITY AND WEIGHT-AVERAGE MOLECULAR WEIGHT OF POLYMER (MW)) AND VISUALIZE VIA THE RESPONSE SURFACE METHOD (RSM). THE RESULTS INDICATE THAT ACTIVITY OF THIS COMPLEX AND THE PROPERTIES OF THE POLYMERIC MATERIALS ARE STRONGLY INFLUENCED BY THE POLYMERIZATION CONDITION. THE ACTIVITIES ACHIEVE WITH EASC ACTIVATED COMPLEX 1, CHALLENGE THE BEST REPORTED ACTIVITIES FOR NI (II) CATALYSTS IN THE PRESENCE OF METHYL ALUMINOXANE (MAO), ATTAINING ABOUT 3907 [KGPE (MOL NI)-1.H-1] AT 10OC, 5 BAR AND CC EQUAL TO 3000. THESE RESULTS DEMONSTRATE THAT EASC IS SUITABLE COCATALYST FOR ACTIVATION OF NICKEL–HALOGEN COMPLEXES.
