Abstract

 IN THE PRESENT WORK, THE EFFECT OF STEARIC ACID, CITRIC ACID AND GLYCERIN CONTENTS ON LLDPE/ STARCH BLENDS WAS INVESTIGATED. DESIGN OF THE EXPERIMENTS (DOE) WAS PERFORMED BY THE STATISTICAL TAGUCHI METHOD. FOUR FACTORS (STARCH, STEARIC ACID, CITRIC ACID AND GLYCERIN) IN THREE LEVELS WERE CHOSEN, AND THE EFFECTS OF EACH FACTOR ON MECHANICAL PROPERTIES AND WATER ABSORPTION WERE STUDIED. YIELD STRESS ENHANCED WITH DECREASING GLYCERIN AND INCREASING CITRIC ACID CONTENT. INCREASING THE AMOUNT OF STEARIC ACID AND DECREASIND STACH, CITRIC ACID AND GLYCERIN, DECREASED THE WATER ABSORPTION OF THE BLENDS.
