Abstract

 RHEOLOGICAL PARAMETERS WERE USED TO EXAMINE PROCESSING AND THERMAL AGING DEGRADATION OF Z-N POLYETHYLENE'S. THE DEGREE OF ENHANCEMENT OR REDUCTION IN SHEAR THINNING, ZERO-SHEAR VISCOSITY, FLOW ACTIVATION ENERGY AND BAGLEY CORRECTION WAS USED AS A MEASURE OF THE DEGREE OF LONG CHAIN BRANCHING OR CHAIN SCISSION RESPECTIVELY. PROCESSING DEGRADATION IN THE BRANCHED LLDPE IS MORE SEVERE THAN THAT OF THE LINEAR HDPE AND CHAIN SCISSION IS DOMINANT WHILE IN HDPE LONG CHAIN BRANCHING IS DOMINANT. THE THERMAL AGING RESULTS OF HDPE, MDPE AND LLDPE SHOWS LITTLE DEGRADATION IS DOMINATED BY LONG CHAIN BRANCHING.
