Abstract

 IN THIS PAPER, SILVER CRYSTALS ARE SYNTHESIZED ON THE MULTIWALL CARBON NANOTUBE (MWCNTS) SURFACE AT THE PRESENCE OF DIFFERENT SOLVENTS SUCH AS ACETONE AND NMP VIA CHEMICAL REDUCTION METHOD. N, N-DIMETHYLFORMAMIDE IS USED AS REDUCING AGENT AND SDS AS STABILIZING AGENT. THE STRUCTURE AND NATURE OF HYBRID MWCNTS/SILVER WERE CHARACTERIZED BY TRANSMISSION ELECTRON MICROSCOPY (TEM), AND SCANNING ELECTRON MICROSCOPY (SEM). ALSO, THE PRESENCE OF SILVER CRYSTALS ON THE NANOTUBES WAS CONFIRMED USING X-RAY DIFFRACTION (XRD). IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT SOLVENTS PLAY THE KEY ROLE IN THE FORMATION OF DIFFERENT PARTICLES SIZES, AND MORPHOLOGICAL TRANSITIONS FROM NANOPARTICLES TO THE SILVER TREES.
