MASS TRANSFER ENHANCEMENT BY BINARY NANOFLUID FOR ABSORPTION OF HYDROGEN SULFIDE

Abstract

 MASS TRANSFER ENHANCEMENT BY NANO-FLUID HAS BEEN RECENTLY PROPOSED BY SOME RESEARCHERS. IN THIS PAPER ENHANCEMENT OF MASS TRANSFER FOR HYDROGEN SULFIDE ABSORPTION WAS INVESTIGATED. SIO2/WATER BINARY NANO FLUID WAS USED AT FIRST SET OF EXPERIMENTS. H2S ABSORPTION WAS REDUCED BY INCREASING NANO PARTICLE CONCENTRATION. THE REASON WAS PROPOSED TO BE REDUCTION OF GAS-LIQUID CONTACT AREA DUE TO THE PRESENCE OF NANO PARTICLES AT THE INTERFACE. GRAPHENE OXIDE (GO) FUNCTIONALIZED BY CARBOXILIC GROUP AND ALSO GO REDUCED WITH DIMETYL FORMAMIDE (DMF) WERE USED TO PRODUCE NANOFLUIDS IN THE SECOND SET OF EXPERIMENTS. IN OPTIMUM CONCENTRATION OF PARTICLES (0.02% WEIGHT FRACTION) H2S ABSORPTION INCREASED 23% AND 61% FOR CARBOXILIC FUNCTIONALIZED GO AND REDUCED GO WITH DMF, RESPECTIVLY. IT IS SUGGESTED THAT GRAZING EFFECT IS THE MAIN MEC ANISM FOR MASS TRANSFER ENHANCEMENT BY NANO FLUID.
