Abstract

 INTRODUCTION: CH3CH (NH2) COOH (L-ALANINE) BELONGS TO THE CLASS OF 20 PROTEINOGENICAMINO ACIDS AND MAY BE CONSIDERED AS ONE OF THE PRINCIPAL AMINOACIDS IN NATURAL PROTEINS THEY POSSESS PROMISING NONLINEAR OPTICAL, PIEZOELECTRIC, ELASTIC AND DIELECTRIC PROPERTIES. L-ALANINE (LA) IS THE SMALLEST, NATURALLY OCCURRING CHIRAL AMINO ACID WITH A NON-REACTIVE HYDROPHOBIC METHYL GROUP (CH3) AS A SIDE CHAIN. LA HAS THE ZWITTERIONIC FORM (NH3+- C2H4 COO−) BOTH IN CRYSTALAND IN AQUEOUS SOLUTION OVER A LARGE RANGE OF PH.
