Abstract

THERMOPLASTIC POLYURETHANE NANOCOMPOSITES (TPU) CONTAINING UNTREATED FUMED SILICA AND FUMED SILICA TREATED WITH POLYDIMETHYLSILOXANE WERE PREPARED BY METHOD SOLUTION AT DIFFERENT CONCENTRATIONS. THE EFFECT OF NANOPARTICLES ON THE MORPHOLOGY OF TPU MATRIX WAS STUDIED BY SCANNING ELECTRON MICROSCOPY. ALSO, THE EFFECT OF CONCENTRATION AND PARTICLE TYPE ON RHEOLOGICAL PROPERTIES OF NANOCOMPOSITES AND THERMAL STABILITY WAS INVESTIGATED USING DYNAMIC FREQUENCY SWEEP (RMS) AND THERMOGRAVIMETRIC (TGA) ANALYSIS RESPECTIVELY. RMS AND TGA SHOWED THAT STORAGE AND LOST MODULUS (G’ & G’’) AND ALSO THERMAL STABILITY INCREASED FOR NANOCOMPOSITES IN COMPARISON TO PURE TPU. ALSO, IT WAS OBSERVED THAT G’, G’’, AND THERMAL STABILITY FOR TREATED SILICA WERE HIGHER THAN THOSE OF UNTREATED SILICA.
