Abstract

 INTRODUCTION: BASED ON OUR KNOWLEDGE AND LITERATURE REVIEW, SEVERAL SBA-15-BASED CHEMICAL SENSORS HAVE BEEN REPORTED FOR DETECTION OF MERCURY BECAUSE OF ITS PROVEN DANGEROUS EFFECTS ON THE LIVING ORGANISMS. [1, 2] HEREIN, WE SUCCESSFULLY SYNTHESIZED AND CHARACTERIZED A NOVEL ORGANIC-MODIFIED SBA-15 CHEMICAL SENSOR FOR DETECTION OF MERCURY IN AQUEOUS MEDIA THROUGH FLUORESCENCE QUENCHING MONITORING. THE QUENCHING MECHANISM WAS FURTHER INVESTIGATED USING DFT/TDDFT COMPUTATIONAL METHODS.
