COMPREHENSIVE RESERVOIR CHARACTERIZATION USING NUCLEAR MAGNETIC RESONANCE TOOL, FULL WAVE SONIC AND IMAGE LOGGING

Abstract

 IN A WELL FROM SOUTH WEST OF IRAN, CONVENTIONAL LOG TOGETHER WITH FULL WAVE SONIC, IMAGE LOG AND NUCLEAR MAGNETIC RESONANCE TOOL ARE RUN AND ANALYZED FOR IDENTIFYING THE PAY ZONES. THE CROSS PLOTS OF RHOB-NPHI, RHOB-DT AND NPHI-DT ARE USED TO IDENTIFY THE FORMATION LITHOLOGY. BECAUSE OF COMPLICATED LITHOLOGY, CRA (COMPLEX RESERVOIR ANALYSIS) MODULE OF EXPRESS SOFTWARE IS APPLIED TO PROCESSING THE LOG DATA. THROUGH ANALYSIS COMBINED WITH IMAGE LOG AND NUCLEAR MAGNETIC RESONANCE WELL DEVELOPED PORE-VUGGY FRACTURE RESERVOIR IS IDENTIFIED. THE CONVENTIONAL DATA PROCESSING RESULTS SHOW THAT THE OIL SATURATION IN SOME INTERVALS IS MORE THAN 50.0%, AND THAT IMPLIES THE RESERVOIRS ARE OIL ZONES, WHICH ARE PROVED BY NUCLEAR MAGNETIC RESONANCE ANALYSIS. FROM THE IMAGE LOG, THE PORES AND FRACTURES ARE DEVELOPED IN THE PAY ZONES, WHICH PROVIDE THE STORAGE SPACE FOR HYDROCARBON. THE RESULTS OF USING DIFFERENT KINDS OF LOGGING TECHNIQUES SHOWS THE ABILITY OF NEW TOOLS TO IDENTIFY THE RESERVOIR PAY ZONES.
