Abstract

 THE ADSORPTION OF PARTIALLY HYDROLYZED POLYACRYLAMIDE (PHPA) CHAINS ONTO THE MODIFIED BENTONITENANOCLAY SURFACES GRAFTED BY DIFFERENT COPOLYMERS INCLUDING POLY (1-VINYL PYRROLIDONE-CO-STYRENE) (P (VP-S)), POLY (METHYL METHACRYLATE -CO-METHACRYLIC ACID) (P (MM-MA)) AND POLY (ACRYLAMIDECO-DIALLYL DIMETHYL AMMONIUMCHLORIDE) (P (AM-D)) IN A HIGH SALINITY ELECTROLYTE SOLUTION WAS INVESTIGATED. THE THERMODYNAMIC PARAMETERS INCLUDING ENTHALPY (DH), ENTROPY (DS), FREE ENERGY (DG) AND ADSORPTION CONSTANT (KN) OF THE INTERACTIONS OF ORGANIC-ORGANIC-INORGANIC HYBRIDS IN THE NANO-CLAY SUSPENSIONS WERE DETERMINED BY LANGMUIR EQUATION USING A SPECTROPHOTOMETER ANALYZER.THE RESULTS OF THERMODYNAMIC STUDIES INDICATED THAT MODIFIED P (VP-S) -NANOCLAY HAS THE LONGEST STABILITY IN HIGH SALINITY ELECTROLYTE AMONG THE UN-MODIFIED AND MODIFIED NANOCLAYS.
