Abstract

 INTRODUCTION: AMMONIUM PERCHLORATE (AP), AS THE IMPORTANT HIGHT ENERGY INGREDIENT OF SOLID PROPELLANTS IN THE NATIONAL DEFENSE FIELD, OCCUPIES A LARGE PROPORTION IN THE FORMULA. THE THERMAL DECOMPOSITION OF AP CAN DIRECTLY AFFECT THE BURNING VELOCITY AND ENERGY FEATURES OF PROPELLANTS [1]. AP IS A IMPORTANT OXIDIZER USED IN SOLID ROCKET PROPELLANTS KNOWN AS AMMONIUM PERCHLORATE COMPOSITE PROPELLANT (APCP). THERMAL DECOMPOSITION CHARACTERISTICS OF AP INFLUENCE THE COMBUSTION BEHAVIOR OF THE PROPELLANTS. AP BASED COMPOSITE SOLID PROPELLANTS REQUIRE COMBUSTION MODIFIERS TO ACHIEVE BURNING RATES [2]. THERE FORE, AN EXTENSIVE STUDY ON THE THERMAL DECOMPOSITION OF AP WAS CARRIED OUT BY RESEARCHERS. RESULT SHOW THAT A SMALL AMOUNT OF CATALYST CAN REDUCE THE THERMAL DECOMPOSITION TEMPERATURE OF AP, ESPECIALLY THE HIGHER PYROLYTICTEMPERATURE, INCREASE APPARENT DECOMPOSITION HEAT OF AP, SO AS TO IMPROVE THE BURNING VELOCITY AND EFFICIENCY OF PROPELLANT [3]. IN A REPORT, THE EFFECT OF THE PARTICLE SIZE OF NANO TETRA BANZYL PYRIDINE PORPHYRIN CATALYSTS ON THE THERMAL DECOMPOSITION OF AP WAS EXAMINED WITH A SERIES OF THERMAL ANALYSIS EXPERIMENTS. IT WAS CLEAR THAT THE THERMAL DECOMPOSITION OF AP WAS GREATHY ENHANCED BY REDUCING THE SIZE OF PORPHYRIN FROM THE SUBMICRON TO NANO METER SIZE.
