Abstract

PERMEABILITY IMPROVEMENT DUE TO REACTION OF ACID WITH ROCK HAS BEEN STUDIED BY SEVERAL INVESTIGATORS AND SOME MODELING APPROACHES HAVE ALSO BEEN REPORTED IN TEXTS AND LITERATURES. IN THIS PAPER, A NEW MATHEMATICAL MODEL DEVELOPED BASED ON MASS BALANCE OF ACID CONCENTRATION AND CHEMICAL REACTIONS BETWEEN ACID AND ROCK IN POROUS MEDIA DURING ACIDIZING PROCESS. THIS MATHEMATICAL MODEL IS NUMERICALLY SOLVED TO PREDICT POROSITY AND PERMEABILITY IN VARIOUS TIME AND DEPTH AND DEMONSTRATE THE DISTRIBUTION OF ACID CONCENTRATION THROUGH THE POROUS MEDIA. THE MARKED IDENTIFICATION OF THIS NEW MODEL IS THAT IT REDUCES ALL ACID DISSOLUTION PROCESS EQUATIONS TO ONE DIFFERENTIAL EQUATION AND IT CAN BE EASILY SOLVED IN A SHORT CPU TIME.ALSO THE RESULTS OF THE SIMULATION RUN AGREE REASONABLY WELL WITH THE EXPERIMENTAL ACID FLOODING IN CORE SAMPLES. THIS MODEL CAN BE EASILY USED IN FLUID FLOW SIMULATORS IN POROUS MEDIA.
