A SENSITIVE SPECTROPHOTOMETRIC METHOD FOR DETERMINATION OF CEFIXIM BY GOLD NANOPARTICLES

Abstract

 ULTRA VIOLET (UV-VISIBLE) SPECTROSCOPIC METHOD OF ANALYSIS IS WIDELY USED IN THE ANALYSIS OF DRUGS DUE TO ITS GOOD SENSITIVITY AND COST EFFECTIVENESS. AN OPTIMIZED AND VALIDATED SPECTROMETRIC METHOD HAS BEEN DEVELOPED FOR THE DETERMINATION OF CEFIXIM IN PHARMACEUTICAL FORMULATION IN PRESENCE OF GOLD NANO PARTICLES. ADDITION OF CEFIXIM TO GOLD NANO PARTICLE SOLUTION LEADS TO THE AGGREGATION OF GOLD NANO PARTICLES THAT DECREASES THE ABSORPTION BAND. IN THIS RESEARCH, EXPERIMENTAL CONDITIONS SUCH AS PH, TEMPERATURE, TYPE OF BUFFER, VOLUME OF BUFFER AND VOLUME OF GOLD NANO PARTICLES WERE OPTIMIZED. IN THE OPTIMUM EXPERIMENTAL CONDITIONS WE ARE ABLE TO OBTAIN THE BEST CALIBRATION GRAPH THAT WAS LINEAR IN THE RANGE OF 10-300PPM WITH GOOD CORRELATION COEFFICIENTS. AVERAGE ACCURACY OF ASSAY OF CEFIXIM WERE FOUND TO BE 100.6%. THE DRUG SHOWED LESS LIMIT OF DETECTION AND RELATIVE STANDARD DEVIATION (LOD=0.11MG/L, RSD=1.5%) TO SOLUTION AND OBEYED THE BEERS LAW AT VERY LAW CONCENTRATION RANGE. FINALLY, IT WAS CALCULATED THAT THE ALL PROPOSED METHODS WERE SIMPLE, COST EFFECTIVE, SAFE TO ENVIRONMENT, RAPID, REPRODUCIBLE AND HIGHLY SENSITIVE.
