Abstract

 MODERN WELL TEST ANALYSIS AND INTERPRETATION TECHNIQUES RELY ON A MATCH BETWEEN THE ACTUAL RESERVOIR PRESSURE RESPONSE AND ANALYTICAL MODELS. FOR MANY WELL AND RESERVOIR CONFIGURATIONS THE ANALYTICAL TECHNIQUES ARE SUFFICIENT. HOWEVER, RECENT ADVANCES IN DRILLING AND COMPLETION TECHNOLOGY AND COMPLICATED RESERVOIR, COUPLED WITH THE INCREASED CAPABILITIES OF MODERN PRESSURE GAUGES TO DETECT RESERVOIR HETEROGENEITIES, ARE NOW SEVERELY CHALLENGING THE AVAILABLE ANALYTICAL WELL TEST MODELS. THE SOUTH AND SOUTH –WESTERN IRANIAN GAS CONDENSATE FIELDS ARE MAINLY LEAN GAS CONDENSATE AND SOME WATER PRODUCTION WHICH COMMON INTERPRETATION PROCEDURES OF WELL TEST DATA.PRESSURE TRANSIENT DATA ANALYSES REVIEWED IN THIS PAPER WERE FROM TWO COMPLEX RESERVOIRS: A CASE STUDY OF NON-CONVENTIONAL INTERPRETATION AND ANALYSIS. IN THIS CASE CONSIDERABLY LOW DRAW DOWN PRESSURE (1 PSI) IN THESE TESTS CAUSES AMBIGUITIES IN INTERPRETATION WHICH USING VARIOUS COMMON METHODS IN THE WELL TEST TO SOLVE THESE THEM. WE FOUND THAT ANALYTICAL MODEL WERE USEFUL FOR RESERVOIR MODEL DIAGNOSIS BUT INADEQUATE FOR DELIVERING RELIABLE RESERVOIR PARAMETERS FOR THE MORE COMPLEX SITUATIONS. WITH GUIDANCE FROM THE ANALYTICAL MODELS, NUMERICAL WELL TEST MODELS AND FIELD EXPERIENCE HELPED US TO GAIN INSIGHT INTO THE STRUCTURAL COMPLEXITIES.
