NUMERICAL STUDY OF LAMINAR FORCED CONVECTION OF NANO-FLUID THROUGH FINNED CHANNEL

Abstract

 IN THE PRESENT STUDY, LAMINAR FORCED CONVECTION OF NANO-FLUID (TIO2) THROUGH A HORIZONTAL CHANNEL WITH BLOCKS ATTACHED TO BOTTOM WALL IS INVESTIGATED. THE BOTTOM WALL IS KEPT AT CONSTANT TEMPERATURE AND THE TOP WALL IS INSULATED. THE GOVERNING EQUATIONS ARE NUMERICALLY SOLVED BY THE CONTROL VOLUME APPROACH BASED ON THE SIMPLE TECHNIQUE. THE INFLUENCES OF THE PARAMETERS SUCH AS RE, NANOPARTICLES VOLUME FRACTION AND NUMBER OF BLOCKS ON THE FLOW AND HEAT TRANSFER ARE ASSESSED. IT IS FOUND THAT APPLYING FIN AND USING NANO-FLUID CAN ENHANCE THE CHANNEL PERFORMANCE.
