Abstract

 MAGNETIC NANOPARTICLES ARE ONE OF THE MOST WIDELY STUDIED MATERIALS IN MULTI-DISCIPLINARY RESEARCH INCLUDING BIOTECHNOLOGY, BIOMEDICINE, MAGNETIC RESONANCE IMAGING (MRI), SEPARATION, CATALYSIS, ETC. [1-3] NUMEROUS RECENT REPORTS IN THE LITERATURE AFFIRM THEIR POTENTIAL APPLICATIONS. MAGHEMITE NANOPARTICLES ARE GENERALLY CONSIDERED TO BE INERT, WHICH IS PART OF THE REASON WHY THEY ARE IDEAL FOR IMAGING AND SEPARATION IN BIOLOGICAL SYSTEMS. TO PRODUCE MAGHEMITE ENDOWED WITH BOTH MAGNETIC AND CATALYTIC PROPERTIES, MNPS ARE OFTEN BOUND TO METAL CATALYSTS OR ENZYMES TO GENERATE NANO-CONJUGATES. THEY HAVE BEEN USED IN RECENT YEARS AS A VERSATILE SUPPORT FOR A VARIETY OF HETEROGENEOUS CATALYSTS FOR DIVERSE CLASSES OF ORGANIC TRANSFORMATIONS. [4]IN THIS WORK, MAGNETICALLY TUNGSTATE AND MOLYBDATE CATALYSTS WERE PREPARED BY TUNGSTATE AND MOLYBDATE ANIONS ON STARCH COATED MAGNETIC NANO-PARTICLES (FE2O3@STARCH.PPH3)2 WO4). THE NANO HYBRIDS WERE CHARACTERIZED BY XRD, TEM AND FT-IR SPECTROSCOPY. THE AMOUNT OF CATALYST LOADING ON THE MAGNETIC SUPPORT WAS DETERMINED BY INDUCTIVELY COUPLED PLASMA ATOMIC EMISSION SPECTROSCOPY (ICP-AES).
