Abstract

 A general continuum-based boundary integral equation for large deformation, large strain analysis of elastic and inelastic problems is presented. The formulation is established in general coordinate systems and no approximations are introduced to establish a total-Lagrangian field boundary element modelling. Kinematical formulation is properly based on finite strain continuum mechanics approach. The fundamental solutions are also explained in general coordinate systems using the metric tensor and shifter or intermediate metric tensor concepts. The basic unknowns for the problem inside the domain are the displacement gradients which are calculated via integral equations. The formulation could be efficiently implemented in the numerical modelling for the nonlinear analysis of linearly elastic and inelastic bodies in three-dimensional stress analysis. A typical classical example of elastoplasticity problem has been solved to verify the applicability of the method.
