Abstract

This study aims to investigate the effects of ANOMIE and Iran’s anomic status on SOCIAL APATHY among the citizens. The research method is survey, with a sample of 385 people from the citizens over 18 years old in Babol city. The reliability and validity of the questionnaire are respectively measured by the exterior validity and Cronbach's alpha (0.85) .The analysis of the findings show that SOCIAL APATHY exists more in women than in men, as well as with the increase in age and income the SOCIAL APATHY is reduced. There is a significant relationship between ANOMIE and SOCIAL APATHY, so that the increase (or decrease) in anomaly, causes the SOCIAL APATHY to increase (or decrease). There also exists a significant relationship between ANOMIE and civil APATHY dimension but there is no significant relationship between ANOMIE and altruistic APATHY dimension.
