Abstract

The purpose of this study was to investigate the effectiveness of rational, emotional and behavioral group counseling of Ellis on emotional, social and educational ADJUSTMENT of male high school students in Bostanabad city. The research was semi- experimental and pre-test post-test control group design. The statistical population of this study was 680 male students in the second and third year of secondary school in the city of Bostanabad during the academic year 2014-2015. In a cluster sampling, the sample group was selected from 30 individuals with low ADJUSTMENT and randomly assigned to two groups of experiment and control. Students completed the ADJUSTMENT Questionnaire (AISS, Sins Singh, 1997). The experimental group was subjected to intellectual, behavioral and emotional counseling for 8 sessions. Data analysis using covariance test showed that there was a significant difference between the experimental and control groups after the experimental intervention in the variables of overall ADJUSTMENT and its components (p<0.01). The result of this study showed that rational, emotional and behavioral group counseling can enhance the ADJUSTMENT of male high school students.
