Abstract

The present research aims at identifying and examining the role of ethnic tendencies in Urumieh Urban CRISIS in June 2006 and manner of managing, controlling and handling it. The research method is analytical and descriptive, and with respect to its research model it doesn't have statistical community.Therefore, the required data for the research has been collected through referring to the documents and statistics of the relevant organizations, the library documents and the existing documents in reliable archives, referring to sources, face to face interview with police, political and intelligence experts of West Azarbaijan province who were directly in charge of controlling the CRISIS. Meanwhile, some more data was collected throughfield survey and presence in CRISIS stricken regions. The community under survey in the present research is Urumieh in West Azarbaijan province. The most substan-tial reason and factors which lead to having tendency toward authenticity and displaying urban violent or non-violent behavior in June 2006 has been categorized in the framework of political, and cultural economic DEPRIVATION generating DISCRIMINATIONs. Then, through relying on scientific theories and referring to the proofs offered, the relevant data was analyzed and CRISIS in Urumieh was examined. Thefindings are as follows: 1. Having the feeling of being discriminated, deprived and despised are most substantial factors leading citizen toward ethnic tendencies.2. The above-mentioned feeling is the main driver of displaying violent or non-violent ethnic protests which can become an urban CRISIS under some intensifying factors.3. Political, intelligence and police officials are highly recommended to give priority to using software methods instead of hardware ones to combat the protests whose origin is ethnic tendency.
