Abstract

GOOD URBAN GOVERNANCE is the common ground of all social actors and has its roots in New Public Management (NPM) which late of 1980s come in on development literature with initiative of World Bank and The United Nation Habitat and other international institutes. In fact it has a deconstructive approach to urban planning and has been formed with participation and interaction between main actors of urban management including civil society, government and private sector. Therefore, in the recent decades research and scientific centers and international development organizations with consideration of intensifying urban management problems and achieving city sustainability and management sustainability recommended urban good governance approach as the most effective, cheapest and the most constant method of urban management. The present article investigates situation of AJABSHIR CITY based on GOOD URBAN GOVERNANCE indices and URBAN SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT the research question was: is there any relation between performance of GOOD URBAN GOVERNANCE and cities sustainability? This is a descriptive- analytical research in which questionnaire were used to design measures for each index using Licret spectrum. The collected data were analyzed by SPSS software using statistical tests including T-TEST and correlation coefficient. Statistical results show that AJABSHIR CITY is in inappropriate situation based on GOOD URBAN GOVERNANCE and is unsustainable based on city sustainable indices as well. The result of statistical tests also has shown acceptable meaningful correlation between GOOD URBAN GOVERNANCE and cities sustainability in AJABSHIR CITY.
