Investigating the Effect of Abusive Supervision on Employee Silence and the Effect of Perception of Organizational Political Behavior and Leader-Follower Exchange on Their Relationships (Case Study: Employees of Alborz Province Municipality)

Abstract

 The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of abusive supervision on employee silence and the impact of the variables of organizational policy perception and leader-follower exchange on their relationships. In fact, in this study, we are looking for the fact that these factors can have a significant impact on employee silence. The method of data collection is through a questionnaire, the time horizon of the research is cross-sectional and the purpose of the research is descriptive-analytical, as well as the research strategy is survey and the research approach is deductive, the philosophy of research is the paradigm of positivism and the orientation of research is applied and, in the end, the type of research is quantitative. 200 questionnaires were distributed among the municipalities of Alborz province, of which 184 questionnaires were flawless and usable. Also, partial least squares and structural equations were used to test the hypotheses. Based on the results obtained, abusive supervision has a negative and significant effect on employee silence, perception of organizational policies as a mediating variable between abusive supervision and employee silence has had a negative and significant effect. Also, leader-follower exchange has a positive and significant effect on employee silence, and finally, leader-follower exchange does not have a moderating effect. Based on the findings of the study, our suggestion to the authorities in municipalities is that by observing the stated cases, they can reduce employee silence in the organization.
