Abstract:

Introduction: Depression, anxiety, and stress can be mentioned as common psychiatric disorders in transsexual people. Depression, followed by stress and anxiety, is associated with decreased self-esteem and increased incidence of other psychiatric comorbidities in this minority group. One of the psychotherapy approaches that has been proven to be effective in treating these disorders is cognitive-behavioral psychotherapy. This study aimed to implement cognitive-behavioral group therapy on transsexual people. Methods: In this pre-experimental after-before study without a control group, 13 transsexual people referred to Tehran Welfare Organization in 2018 were selected using the available sampling method. First, demographic questionnaires, Beck depressionΙ Ι , Cohen’ s perceived stress, and Beck’ s anxiety were completed by these people, and then eight sessions of group therapy were held. The content of the sessions was designed based on Michael Free cognitive therapy protocol and in the framework of the Wilder mott treatment plan. At the end of the sessions, the questionnaires were completed again, and the information was analyzed using descriptive analysis and paired t-test of SPSS19 software. Results: The results showed that the difference between the mean of depression before and after the intervention was significant (P = 0. 008). The results also significant in the anxiety dimension (P = 0. 000) but were not significant in the stress dimension (P = 0. 302). Conclusions: The findings of this study showed that cognitive-behavioral group therapy has significantly reduced depression and anxiety in transsexual people, but in terms of stress, despite a decrease in the mean, the results were not significant; Therefore, it is suggested that this method be used more comprehensively in transsexual people to reduce anxiety and depression and secondarily increase the quality of life.

Introduction: With aging, the pattern of walking is altered, and the person’ s ability to walk will be decreased. Also, with the beginning of the aging process, the coordination of the postural control system was disturbed and lead to an unstable condition. A small biomechanical change in the lower limb is significant on postural control. The use of textured foot orthoses leads to improved efficiency and increased comfort. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of textured foot orthoses on ground reaction force components in older adults during walking. Methods: The present study was of a semi-experimental and laboratory type. Twenty-one older adults with available sampling were volunteered to participate in this study. Ground reaction force data were recorded by the Beretc force plates (Beretc CorporationColumbus, OH) during walking without foot orthoses, walking with small and large textured foot orthoses. ANOVA test with repeated measures was used for statistical analysis. All analyzes were performed at the significance level of 0. 05. Results: The results showed a lower peak posterior force amplitude during the heel contact phase while walking with small textured foot orthoses than that walking without foot orthoses (P = 0. 003). Time to the peak of vertical force during the heel contact phase was decreased while walking with large textured foot orthoses compared with walking without foot orthoses condition (P = 0. 048). Also, time to peak of lateral force during the heel contact phase was increased while walking with small textured foot orthoses compared with walking without foot orthoses condition (P = 0. 021). Conclusions: Using small textured foot orthoses compared to the large textured ones improved most of the ground reaction of elders. However, both small and sizeable textured foot orthoses were not useful on torsion stresses on the body.

Introduction: Nowadays the use of mobile health technology to improve health is a great opportunity for developing countries, to have a more efficient health system by telemedicine education. So the purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of mobile-based self-care application on the balance of people with multiple sclerosis. Methods: The present study is a clinical trial study performed in Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari province in 2019. The study units were selected by convenience sampling and were divided into two groups of experimental and control. At first, balance level of the patients was measured by Tinetti (Tinetti Performance Oriented Mobility Assessment) questionnaire. Then, for the experimental group, the self-care application was installed on their cell phone and for two months was used by patients. The control group received no intervention during this period. The application usage rate was measured by self-report checklists. After two months balance level was again measured in both groups. Data were analyzed by using SPSS-21 software and chi-square and independent and paired t-test. Results: Participants in two groups had no significant difference in terms of demographic characteristics and underlying variables including: Age (P = 0. 736), age groups (P = 0. 955), gender (P = 0. 722), education (P = 0. 880), marital status (P = 0. 358), and occupation (P = 0. 172). Before intervention, the mean of balance score was 10. 61 ± 3. 78 in the control group and 10. 55 ± 2. 96 in the experimental group, that was not statistically significant (P = 0. 945). It was while, two months after intervention the mean balance score in the control group was 10. 52 ± 3. 63 and in the experimental group was 12. 00 ± 2. 47 and the difference was statistically significant (P = 0. 049). Conclusions: The results show that implementation mobile-based self-care applications is effective in improving the balance of the patients with multiple sclerosis. Therefore, mobile applications of this supportive method could be useful to manage their disease and to obtain self-care skills.

Abstract:

Introduction: Studies have shown that brain waves are anomalously active in anxiety patients, but so far, no interventional studies have been performed. Therefore, the purpose of the present study was to determine the effectiveness of cognitive rehabilitation on reducing anxiety and brain wave pattern in patients with anxiety. Anxiety disorder was widespread. Methods: This study was quasi-experimental. The statistical population of this study was that all patients with generalized anxiety disorder referred to Tabriz psychiatric centers in 2018. Thirty anxious patients were selected after the psychiatrist's diagnosis and were randomly assigned to two experimental and control groups. Then both groups were assessed for alpha and theta wave PZ area as well as anxiety severity (Beck Anxiety Inventory) (pre-test). Then the experimental group underwent cognitive rehabilitation for 12 sessions of 60 minutes. They received the relevant training, and in the end, in order to assess the differences, the above tests were repeated on both experimental and control groups (post-test). Data were analyzed using Neuroguid and SPSS 23 software. Results: The analysis of the present data showed that cognitive rehabilitation reduced anxiety scores in patients with a generalized anxiety disorder (P < 0/01) and also reduced the alpha wave and theta wave of anxiety in PZ patients (P < 0/01). Conclusions: Based on results, cognitive rehabilitation can be used as an effective treatment for reducing anxiety.
