The purpose of this study is to measure the cost of trade in Iranian economy and analysis and evaluation of the reasons it is costly. Trading costs are influenced by many factors, usually in different research focuses only on transport costs and tariffs. But in addition to these, there are additional costs for trading that have a determine effect on the size of trade between different countries. The results show that inefficient ports and container terminals, customs inefficient and time consuming customs inspections, Poor infrastructure and transportation and distribution of institutions responsible and the number of certificates and documents required that four of the most important factors of cost of trade in Iran. Surveys and comparative studies, this study shows that use the following guidelines and policies would reduce the costs of trade and trading in the competitive process in the import and export of goods and services:
ü Use the electronic systems of data exchange
ü Link organizations through electronic single window electronic filing
ü Use of risk assessment policy for the inspection
ü Strengthen regional cooperation to overcome geographical barriers
ü Participant attraction of the private sector in strengthening inspections and customs
ü Increase transparency to minimize costs
