Colloidal Silica is used as one of the most important industrial catalyst carriers.Catalyst carriers are substantially one of the important ingredients of catalytic systems which provide nessesary surface needed for reactions.
Despite of having rich silica sources and fast grow of catalysts usage in a variety of industries in Iran, little attention has been paid to this subject, so achiving the production method of this product has been the most important goal of this research.
In this way, after studying and comparison of a variety of production methods, cation exchanging of sodium silicate method was selected and some samples were made accordingly. During preparation of samples, effect of titrant and titrate solutions concenteration on final product physico-chemical properties was investigated.The test results of the samples and a commercial sample show that one of the produced sample, named CS-03, can be an appropriate replacement for commercial product.
In the next step, after appropriate scale-up and using suitable equipments, this product was prepared in the bench scale.
Then this product was sent to Chinandegan company and was used in producing industrial ceramic items. The results show that this product has properties similar to commercial colloidal silicas and If it’s concentaration (%wt SiO2) increases, It can be used instead of them.
