Symbiotic nitrogen fixation between legumes and Rhizobia is on of the most important and interested subjects in agriculture. To perform this process in a controlled, Rhizobium inoculants, composed of bacteria and carrier are used.
Isolation of Rhizobium strains in Cicer arietinum field under cultivation in Iran started on October 1996. The objects of this study were to prepare suitable Rhizobium inoculant as a biological fertilizer. By standard isolation as describedon ICARDA manual, 1993,5 Rhizobium strains isolated. These isolates have been used to assess their ability to nodulate Cicer arietinum plant in-vitro conditions, by suggested carrier.
