Objective: The outcome of IVF & ET in women with POCS.
Design: Retrospective study from 1377 to 1379.
Setting: Royan, Institute of Infertility.
Patients and Interventions: 33 patients with PCO (without any other causes of infertility) who failed standard ovulation induction treatment with clomiphen citrate (?6 cycles) underwent 33 cycles of IVf & ET. Controlled group are 76 patients with only tubal factor infertility. Our study has been done in the first cycle of IVF in two groups. We used long protocol with Buserelin (gnRHa)/HMG.
Outcome measures: IVF and ET cycle characteristics were compared using student’s t-test and Fisher’s exact test. If needed we use non parametrical tests such as K.W.
Results: PCO patients had less mean age (28.5±4.2 versus 32±5.3), more follicular phase duration (12.3±2.8 versus 10.9±3.2), more incidence of OHSS (17.6% versus 2.7%) and more pregnancy rate per embryo transfer (20% versus 1.4%) (P<0.05).
The duration of using GnRHa up to onset of HMG (13.3 versus 12.6 day), cyst number after using of GnRHa (12.1% versus 23%), cyst aspiration percent (3.03 versus 10.5). using of HMG ampouls (31.8 versus 29.09), retrieved oocyte (7.6 versus 6.7), produced embryo per person (5.1 versus 4.6), embryo transfer per person (2.7 versus 3.06) and cycle cancellation (0 versus 5.9%) were not significantly different.
