Geotextile is one of the most important types of industrial textiles which are used in reinforcing shorelines. In this paper, the feasibility of producing geotextile tubes in order to strengthen soft foundation of riverbanks was investigated. For this purpose, at first, technical textiles were identified. Then, properties and applications of geotextiles were investigated. Follow on from what we investigated, a type of geotextile tube was designed. Then, required materials and instrumentation were supplied. After that, the designed geotextile was produced. After preparation of woven geotextile, concrete – filling operation was done. Finally produced samples were tested.
The results showed that, the geotextile tube is able to keep the concrete. In the other hand, produced geotextile is applicable as a concrete style. In compare with similar samples, tensile strength is in acceptable rang. Also, elongation and unit weight of produced samples are more than those of similar samples.
