In accordance to the physical & chemical properties of some liquids which have the capability to be solid, there are many techniques to produce spherical shapes, one of the most important one is called oil drop. In this technique the liquid after passing through a hot oil is changed to solid.
In this project the aim is to select a special oil immisicible with the hydrosol prepared from the reaction of sodium silicate, sulfuric acid and some other additives. As a result of the hydrosol passage through the column the selected oil it solidified and changed into spherical hydrogel. Many samples of paraffinic and naphthenic oils with high viscosity which commercially produced by motor, Gear and industrial oils companies were tested and its performance and suitability were evaluated.
The previous oil used (Behran Tire 250) was containing some aromatic and polyaromatic ingredients which are potentially carcinogenic, therefore it was replaced by the new oil formulation consist of 85 weight percent RS-1335 oil (Behran company) and 15 weight precent food grade paraffin (Alborze paraffin company).
The optimized sample prepared was compared with the previous oil used (Behran Tire 250) by determining the viscosities of them at 100oC the result of the experiment was almost same. By the way the new formulation has no has no occupational problems and is safety to be used.
