The bacterial canker caused by Pseudomonas syringae PV.syringae was reported in different areas of Iran.
In this study, antibacterial effect of extracts on 3 strains of Pseudomonas syringae PV. Syringae were evaluated by different techniques such as 1, paper disk, 2, turbidometry, 3, TLC, 4, bioassay, 5, A. mixture of extract and bacterial suspension, The plant specieses were (Allium sativy,m). (peganum harmala), (Anabasis aphylla), (Anabasis setifer), (Morus, alba), (morus pigra), (Althaea officinalis), (Artemisia herba-alba), (salsola lanata), (Ficus carica), (Seidletzia rosmarinus), (Ferula gommosa).
The results Showed that, the extracts of (Allium sativum), and (peganum harmala) inhibited bacterial growth as well as streptomycin (1000 ppm) on nutrient agar medium Preliminary study by TLC indicated that, the components of Allium sativum extract, with Rf 0.057, 0.78 and 0.89 have toxic effects on P.s.PV.s strains.
Presumably, the antibacterial effects of seeds of peganum harmala extracts related to the compounds with following Rf on 3 bacteria strains (0.51 and 0.73 on marsh-mallow isolate 0.51, 0.33, 0.31 on sweet cherry isolate, 0.33, on apricort isolate).
Thestrains for P.S.Pv.s syringae grown on nutrient agar medium containing plant extracts of (Artemisia herba-alba, Althaea officinalis and flowers of this plant extracts not inhibited bacterial growth, But, extraets, of (Ficus carica), (seidletzia reamarinus), (salsola lanata, Morus alba,) weakly affect the growth of bacteria. The extracts of (Anabasis aphylla), (Anabasis setifer), (Morus nigra), (Ferula gommosa) and (peganun harmala) moderately affected to bacterial strains.
Antagonistic effect of Erwinia herbicola pathovar herbicola and Pv. ananas on p, sPV.s was evaluated by the same Techniques, E.h.PV. ananas decreasepopulation of Ps.Pv.s on culture media and inhibited symptom appearance on Bellis perennis infiltrated with both bacterias. The results indicated that 5 different techniques were used, the most effective method was paper disc.
