This prospective & control study was done on 1009 patients under ART cycles in Royan Institute in 1378 in order to find a relation between serum bHCG level in the day of ovum pick up and E.F.S.
In all of them, long protocol was done and when at least 3 follicles ³ 18mm were observe in sonography, 10.000IU hCG IM injected and 36 hours later ovum pick up was done. In all patients, serum bHCG level was measured in day of HCG injected and 36 hours later (when ovum pick up was done) between them, 874 women completed the study & in 34 cases no ovum was found (3.9%) group I, in group II, the amont of obtained oocytes was less than 50% of all growth follicle (10.5%) and in group III (85.5%) the amount of oocytes was more than 50% of all growth follicle the mean serum bHCG was in group I (141.1±101 mIU/ml) and in group II (154.5±107 mIU/mL) and in group III (156±86.5 mIU/ml) and there was no significant different between three groups.
From 34 patients who had no ovum, ovarian respons to stiumatlion in sonograohic and hormonal study were normal in 10 cases in 24 cases were abnormal and amount of growth follicles were less than 3 (70.5%) while in group II, III. This poor respons were 17.8% and a significant different was abserved (0.0000).
Conclusion: In this study relative prevalence of EFs was about 1.1% and the most causes of this problem was due to poor response of ovary and measurement of serum bHCG could not predict accurence of EFs.
