Abstract: 

Disturbance of the balance between the production of free radicals and antioxidant system against them produce oxidative stress. The widespread use of pesticides in the worldwide, Oxidative stress was studied in blood samples obtained organophosphorous poisoning cases admitted to the Valiasr Hospital Arak and evaluated for lipid peroxidation including Thio Barbituric Acide Reactive Substances (TBARS), total antioxidant capacity including Ferric Reducing Ability of Plasma (FRAP) and Thiol groups for oxidation of proteins and CholineEsterase (ChE) enzyme activity in these subjects. The results expressed induction of oxidative stress in these subjects as revealed by increased plasma TBARS (P<0.05), Decreased FRAP (P<0.05) and plasma ChE activity (P<0.05). Thiol groups deacreased in comparison to those of controls but wasn’t significant. Induction of oxidative stress in acute organophosphorous poisoning can be reduce with supplement more antioxidants.
