Abstract:

The upper Devonian (Bahram Formation) is exposed in East of Hojedk area with 307m thickness. This formation includes fossilferous limestone and thin to the medium bedded dolomitic limestones with yellow colour with inter bedded shale and sandstone. Bahram formation overlays sibzar dolomite conformably and underlaid gradually with carboniferous strata limestones. Field and microscopic studies led to recognize fourteen facies. They include one detrital facies and the rest are carbonate. These microfacies includes four facies groups (Beach, lagoon, Bar, and openmain environment).
This study shows that the upper Devonian rocks in Hojedk region were deposited in carbonate platform. The vertical sequences of Bahram formation indicate four shallwing and coarsing upward cycles.
