Abstract: 

The sediments of the Qom Formation in Kohlu Paein section in west Saveh are composed mainly of shale, marl, sandstone and interbedded with limestone. The thickness of examined section measured about 500 m, and 25 genera and 29 species of benthonic foraminifera were identified. According to the assemblages of foraminifera, specially occurrence of Borelis melo curdica, the age of this section is Burdigalian. Based on diversity and relation abundance of the foraminiferal fauna, paleoenvironment probably comprises lagoon/inner shelf at the lower and upper part, and mid to outer shelf at the.
