INTRODUCTION: VERY LARGE FLOATING STRUCTURES, VLFS, ARE USED IN MARINE FACILITIES. THESE FACILITIES ARE IMPORTANT STRUCTURE; THEREFORE THEY MUST BE SAFETY AGAINST SEA WAVES. SEA WAVES CAUSE MARINE FACILITIES TO HAVE VERTICAL DISPLACEMENT. IF THEIR VERTICAL DISPLACEMENT BECOMES MORE THEN ALLOWABLE ONE, THEY MAY BE COLLAPSE SUDDENLY. MANY ENGINEERS SUGGEST USING BREAKWATER TO REDUCE VERTICAL DISPLACEMENT. KIM AND ETERKIN, OHMATSU AND WATANBE ET, AL., HAVE SOME INVESTIGATION ON BREAKWATER (REFERENCES [1] TO [3]).
IN THIS STUDY, BREAKWATER INFLUENCE ON VERTICAL DISPLACEMENT IS INVESTIGATED BY EXPERIMENTAL MODEL. AFTER EXPERIMENTING, A MATHEMATICAL MODEL IS DEVELOPED.
