Abstract: 

Recombinant human vascular endothelial growth factor protein (rhVEGF) stimulates angiogenesis in animal models. Angiogenesis is the growth and proliferation of new blood vessels from existing vasculature. Therapeutic angiogenesis is a novel approach to the treatment of coronary and peripheral vascular disease not amenable to standard revascularization techniques. Vascular endothelial growth factors (VEGFs) are a family of angiogenic proteins specific for endothelial cells and essential in the process of angiogenesis. In this study, expression of VEGF 165 was performed in E. coli. The result show a high expression level of VEGF 165.
