Abstract:

Y chromosome DNA polymorphism is a male specific genetic marker. Y chromosome microsatellite or short tandem repeats (STRs) seem to be ideal markers to delineate differences between human populations for several reasons. In order to establish a database for immigration pattern, we present frequency distribution of four Y-chromosome specific STR polymorphism in 3 ethnic groups of three provinces of Iran.
