Abstract: 

IN THIS STUDY, THE EFFECT OF CHLORIDE ION ON COATED REBAR CORROSION OF A NEW TYPE OF CONCRETE, SELF CONSOLIDATION CONCRETE (SCC) WITH NANOSILICA, WAS MEASURED AND COMPARED WITH THE CONTROL SCC. THE REBAR WERE COATED WITH 3 TYPES OF COATING, I) EPOXY, II) ZINC-RICH AND III) ZINCALUMINUM- RICH AND WERE COMPARED WITH BARE REBAR. THE SCC SPECIMENS WERE PLACED IN MACROCELL DESIGN ACCORDING TO ASTM G109-92. CORROSION RATE WAS MEASURED BY NON-DESTRUCTIVE METHODS SUCH AS HALF-CELL POTENTIAL AND CORROSION CURRENT. THE RESULTS REVEALED THAT NANOSILICA ALONE CAN NOT DECREASE CORROSION RATE RELATIVE TO CONTROL SCC. FURTHERMORE RESULTS SHOWED THAT EPOXY HAS THE BEST REACTION AGAINST CORROSION.
