Abstract: 

IN THIS ARTICLE, THE DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION OF A 380 WATT CO2 LASER USING AXIAL FLOW TECHNIQUE AND D.C. EXCITATION AND AN ELECTRO-OPTIC EFFICIENCY OF ABOUT 15% WILL BE DESCRIBED. THE DESIGN FEATURES AND THE OPERATIONAL CHARACTERISTICS OF THE LASER ARE DESCRIBED. THIS LASER IS SUITABLE FOR MATERIALS PROCESSING SUCH AS CUTTING OF THE METALLIC SURFACES.
