Abstract: 

WITH THE OPTICAL PUMPING OF NH3 GAS BY A TEA CO2 LASER PULSES, A LASER EMISSION AT THE WAVELENGTH OF 12.812 MM WAS OBTAINED. IT IS SHOWN THAT THE OPTIMUM PRESSURE OF NH3 GAS IS CLOSED TO 5 MBAR. BY STUDYING SOME BUFFER GASES EFFECTS SUCH AS HE, N2 AND H2, THE LASER EFFICIENCY FOR NH3: HEº7:13 MIXTURE WAS INCREASED FROM 7% UP TO 8.3% AND THE MAXIMUM OUTPUT ENERGY PER PULSES OF 125 MJ WAS OBTAINED. BY SCALING UP THE LASER TUBE LENGTH AND THE INNER DIAMETER, BY FACTORS OF 2 AND 1.5, RESPECTIVELY, THE MAXIMUM ENERGY PER PULSE FOR PURE NH3 GAS WAS REACHED FROM 100 MJ TO 350 MJ. FINALLY, IT IS REALIZED THAT A SPECIALLY DESIGNED SET-UP MAKES IT POSSIBLE TO OBTAIN PURE NH3 LASER PULSE.
